Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Bar Creates Trendy Cocktails in Line with London Fashion Week

This month, in line with London Fashion Week, the Fifth Floor Bar at Harvey Nichols is looking at the flavour trends that are likely to take off in 2012.

In January, herbs and spices expert, Schwartz, in partnership with its parent company, McCormick, unveiled the future of flavour with its first ever global Flavour Forecast.  To coincide with this, Dominic Jacobs, Fifth Floor Bar Manager, and his team have created an inspiring cocktail menu based on those predictions, which will be available for the month of February.

Dominic Jacobs: “In the past, drinks were often overlooked when it came to following trends, but at the Fifth Floor Bar we’re always on the lookout for new flavours and innovative ideas.  The Flavour Forecast is the perfect springboard for us to create stylish and distinctive cocktails that, like fashion, change seasonally.”

As savoury cocktails are becoming ever more popular, why not try the refreshing Cucumber Dill Martini; Hendrick’s gin with fresh dill, lengthened with watermelon and finished with a hint of mint?  If you have a sweet tooth, the Cinnamon Plum Sling; Rooibos tea infused Krupnik Vodka with cinnamon plum jam, livened with a dash of lemon and a touch of soda, will really hit the spot!

Developing the Flavour Forecast involves a year-long process of culinary exploration, data discovery and insight development.  An international group of McCormick experts; including chefs, sensory scientists, trend trackers and food technologists, have collaborated to identify the trends and flavours highlighted in this annual effort.

The Flavour Forecast 2012 highlights 6 globally relevant themes, including Flavourful Swaps, Honouring Roots and Quest for the Ultimate.
